Are you a designer on Zazzle, Society6, Cafepress oder other print on demand shops and a victom of blatant (mostly Chinese) copycat who sell cheap items with your original designs on Amazon? Many of us are affected, if not most. It happens with our most popular designs and our least popular designs alike. Anyone can be their victim and Amazon does little to help us.

Society6 and Cafepress do nothing to help us either. As far as I know, Zazzle (as of now) is the only site that really cares and tries to help their designers. They have understood that these cheap copies also hurt Zazzle’s reputation and earnings. We are not alone in this! Zazzle has even managed to make the process of reporting copies a bit easier for us, there is no need to repeatedly fill out Amazon.com’s online form!

I am writing this blog post as some kind of manual on how to find copies, how to report copies and what else there is you can do to fight back. Be warned, it will be tedious and annoying. You might even cry because it seems to be impossible to solve this but remember: The worst is to not even try it.

Please note that this “easy” process does only work with Amazon.com and there will also be copies on Amazon’s country pages (like Amazon.fr, Amazon.de and so on) that will NOT be removed via email. You will still need to hunt them down separately since they do have their own product numbers (ASIN) and you will need to fill out the online form for the respective country page. This might be a separate blog post in the future. Let’s concentrate on Amazon.com first.

How to find copies of my work?

Whether it will be easy to find your work or not depends on the amount of designs you have published online on sites like Zazzle, Society6 and Cafepress. Simply go to Amazon.com and search for titles or as unique keywords as you can imagine. I myself like to open my Society6 profile and then copy and paste each and every title of my designs from Society6 to Amazon – one by one – until I find something. This is tedious and works best when you are using the same titles on all pod websites. You could also concentrate on your 10 most popular designs on Society6 and Zazzle but then you might miss out a design. I have one design that I have never sold on Zazzle or Society6 but it keeps popping up on Amazon so you can never know what copycats like and sell.

Let’s take a look at a very popular example that keeps popping up every few weeks, the title on all pod websites is “Scenic Caribbean Photo Collage”:

Stolen Design on Amazon

It is incredibly popular as pillow and smartphone case 😦 Before reporting the item you need to make sure it is a copy and not some reseller or official Amazon Marketplace account like Society6 has one. Official resellers do mention your artist name in the description or title and so does Society6. Looking at this example screenshot there is no mentioning of my artist name anywhere.

2. Have proof about your ownership

You need to have the links to your original work handy, it does not matter whether it is a product page from Zazzle or Society6 and to the piece on an online portfolio. The only thing I do make sure is that my user name is matching or similar on all proof links and I do mention this user name in my email.

3. Prepare and send email

Start a new email to “notice@amazon.com” with the subject “Zazzle Image Report”. The subject is very important. If you don’t use it, Amazon might not read your email since they usually do not accept copyright infringement reports via email!

You also need to find the ASIN from the product you want removed, it’s Amazon’s unique product number. Scroll down on the Amazon page until you get to a box with addition product info like this, which also includes the ASIN:

ASIN

Use the following template exactly as it is and replace the text in [brackets] with your info:

Dear Amazon,

I am a Zazzle and Society6 designer.

My name is [Full Name, not Artist Name].

Amazon can contact me via email at [Your Email Adress].

I understand that Amazon may share my name and my email with third-party
sellers on Amazon who posted the content I want removed.

My Copyrights: I am the owner of the following copyrights which I believe
are being infringed by listings on Amazon:
[Link to your matching Product e.g. on Zazzle on Society6]

Content on Amazon I want removed: I believe the following content on Amazon
infringes my copyright(s):
[B01K1KLE1M]

I have a good faith belief that the content(s) described above violate(s)
my rights described above, and that the use of such content(s) is contrary
to law.

I declare, under penalty of perjury, that the information contained in this
notification is correct and accurate and that I am the owner or agent of
the owner of the rights described above.

Signed,

[Your Name]
[Your Artist Name – optional]

It is important that you send out one email per design, not one email with several not matching designs.

Possible: Design 1 has been copied on a pillow and on a phone case. Report it in one email with the ASIN for the pillow and the ASIN for the phone case.

Not possible: Design 1 and 2 have been copied on pillows. Do NOT report them together in one email!

Send the email and Amazon will usually reply within a few days and have the product removed.

4. Repeat

As already mentioned, be prepared to copies popping up again and again and again. The only good thing is that when you encounter a product you had already reported before, simply search for its ASIN in your emails and copy the text including the proof links into a new report email. That way you do not have to create it all from scratch. And after a few weeks doing this, you will know what titles to search for. This will also save some time *sigh*

This my friends, is probably the biggest mystery about Zazzle: How the hell (please excuse my language) can you encourage Zazzle to sell your products on Amazon?

While Cafepress markets your products openly on Amazon and even Ebay, Zazzle does not answer any questions regarding Amazon. But there are many items on Amazon world-wide that are from Zazzle. They are doing it so secretely, that I only found out about it after googling my shopname “stineshop”. I regularly do this and can only recommend it as you get a variety of websites that are helping to sell your stuff from Zazzle. I love going there and showing some love, e.g. by tweeting their websites or pinning my own products. Sorry, I am a wh*re for social networking *lol*

So anyway, one day I came across one of my Zazzle products on Amazon and almost fell off my chair. Could you believe it? I didn’t – at first. And then I wanted to find out what I have to do to actively add my products to Amazon. In case you don’t know, Amazon is so huge, it is the best thing that can happen to a Zazzle seller since it brings your products to a whole new market.

Unfortunately, I have not yet found out what you have to do to get your Zazzle items included in Amazon’s online shop. But believe, I am working on finding it out! One theory is that they include your most popular designs. But they only do this for a short time. Items you find today might not be available in two weeks. During the last couple of months I had seen several of my products on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and even Amazon.de come and go. Whenever I am selling one particual item twice per week, I can be sure that it is on Amazon. It was the case with my “Hot TEA-cher mug” and my “Santa Monica Pier Green Orange Sparkles Edit Gel Mouse Mat” which I had just sold three times in two weeks before Christmas and all three of them to the UK – it’s listed on Amazon.co.uk 🙂

These are my current products on Amazon:

Santa Monica Beach – Sparkling Pink Photo Edit Clocks

Hei er Lehrer – lustiges Wortspiel des HEISSEN Tassen

Santa Monica Pier Green Orange Sparkles Edit Gel Mouse Mats

Since Christmas is approaching extremely fast, I thought it might be nice to share one chapter from my Zazzle eBook with you. Totally free of charge, I hope you enjoy it!

Effective but FREE marketing for your Zazzle shop and products

Chapter 5: Zazzle Itself

What other website would be better for promoting your items than Zazzle itself? The basic goal for a fairly new shop should be to get your shop and your designs noticed. That is why I consider it utterly important to browse around other shops. Maybe you find them while browsing interesting products or while checking potential topics and tags (or rather your “competitors”). If you like a store, why not show that like by clicking the “thumb up” for that store?

Most stores have this feature activated and when you like a store, you are also asked whether you would like to be informed about new products. It is up to you to use this feature or not. I have it activated. When receiving the daily (or weekly/monthly) newsletter, I take a look at the new products and when I like a design, I go there and also click the button on the product page. Sometimes I also leave a comment on a new product to show the Zazzler that I apprechiate his/her work.

Now you might be asking yourself how this will help you.

That’s pretty easy: When you like a shop or item, the Zazzle member will receive an email notifying him/her about it and the chances are always high that you will receive a “like” and/or comment in return! The more people like your shop and your items, the more popular you and your designs will get. Perfect for our goal!

So, why don’t you start with liking my Zazzle shop?

How to Earn More on Zazzle

Although I had started to sell stuff on Zazzle less than one year ago, my earnings are already pretty good. Read this article to find out how you can make Zazzle work for you!

While I am writing my articles about Zazzle on Triond and Gather, many people ask me why I am so successful. Every time I post a new article about a sale, some get jealous and also sad because they seem to not be as lucky as I am.

In this article I will try to tell you what I am doing to increase Zazzle salesand you can do the same!

All you need is a Zazzle shop, some products and a bit of time.

First of all, the more Zazzle products you have up in your store, the more you will sell. Alternatively, if you don’t want to sell your products or simply don’t have photos you want to use, why not promote other products from Zazzle? You earn 15% for referring a buyer to ANY product on Zazzle. So there is no excuse anymore, you just have to promote!

I write articles about Zazzle and some products and even about my sales. I use social networking and social bookmarking sites a lot plus traffic exchanges. I won’t go into detail too much now as I am planning on writing a comprehensive book about my success which will include all dirty little secrets about how to increase your Zazzle sales and earnings. So you might want to stay tuned *whistle*

In addition to that, I strongly recommend visiting my new blog:

Zizzling Zazzle – Home of stine1 on Zazzle

for far more information about me, my store and what I am doing to earn more with Zazzle.

Having a product featured on Zazzle‘s “Today’s Best” list and receiving that award is a goal for many Zazzle sellers. This article will tell you what you need to do to make it into that list.

First of all, I would like to tell you that it is not at all easy to receive the “Today’s Best” award on Zazzle. It is a lot easier to get onto the “Most Viewed” list as this is only influenced by how many people view your product.

If you are asking yourself how to get featured on the Today’s Best list on Zazzle, you will have to do more and you need some luck along with your hard work.

Here is an example of a cute product that made it onto the list. Not designed by me *lol*

Owl always love you Mug
Owl always love you Mug by AnnaMeasuresDesigns
Browse Owl Mugs

Gosh, isn’t this the cutest mug ever?

Anyway, back to the topic. There are actually two total opposite theories and the answer to which one is true heavily depends on which Zazzle staff member you ask. I will present both theories to you and let you decide which way you will go:

Lady Luck

The first theory that you can find within the Zazzle forums, says that staff members of Zazzle decide which product to put onto the list. They feature what they like and what they want to feature. If this is true, there is nothing much you can do to influence your ranking except designing the best possible quality.

Promotion

The second theory which might also be true is that Zazzle runs an algorithm that detects which designs are eligible. Views, votes/ratings and purchases and some other things (maybe comments?) can affect it.

So, before you decide, care for a pillow to cry into?

When I started to investigate this question, I thought there would be a simple answer and a clear and easy recipe *sigh*

Unfortunately, there is no rule you could follow to increase your chance on getting onto the Today’s Best list on Zazzle.

Anyway, maybe you would like to stop by at my Zazzle store at stine1shop.info 🙂

No matter whether you would like to promote your own products in your Zazzle shop or just would love to push your affiliate sales on Zazzle, this article will show you an extremely simple yet highly effective way of promoting Zattly products.

This article will show you how to easily insert any Zazzle products into articles on Triond. And when I say easy, I really do mean easy – as I hate nothing more than wasting my time with things that are not effective and a waste of time. You won’t find any time wasters within my articles 🙂

Before you do anything, make sure that you are logged in into Zazzle properly as this will automatically add your affiliate code to any link you generate, thus earning you additional 15% for EVERY sale no matter what product you sell!

Ok, let’s start:

  1. Go to Triond (log in or join) and submit a new article here.
  2. Think of a topic and search for about 10 related products on Zazzle. If you cannot think of a topic, choose something like:
    Looking for Cool Coffee Mugs?
The Cutest Fairy Themed Personal Gifts You Can Find Online
10 Awesome Nature Posters for Your Wall
    Looking for Mother’s Day Gifts?
    Buy Funny Postcards Online
Find The Best Easter Presents Online
  3. Now click on “Link” on the first product site, here is a screenshot:
  4. A window like the following one will pop up for you:
  5. Now highlight everything on the right side underneath “What you’ll see on your blog or website” including the text underneath the product image! It works best when you start at the end of the text and drag your mouse up to include the photo.
  6. Now copy (“Control + c” or right click and “copy”) the highlighted part and paste (“control + v” or right click and “paste”) it into the article body of your new Triond post.

That’s pretty much it. Insert all products you would like to include, do not forget to add a decent text that describes what you are trying to present and choose understandable tags and keywords.

The most important thing is to not expect to get many views on such an article over night!

You will definitely get more views on other topics. BUT the goal with such an article is not to generate lots of views on Triond. Your goal should be to get your products known by Google and to spread your affiliate links. Search engine results are your friend! 🙂
