October 2015 had another 16 sales on Zazzle in store for me. Again, very disappointing and I have no idea why sales are so going down. But Zazzle seems to be a lot slower for all designers. Christmas season has no positive effect on our sales yet. November does not really look better either!

I rarely reblog blog posts but please check out this comparison of Zazzle and Society6 by Julie Erin Designs, it’s definitely worth a read!

Selling on POD websites pt 1

Welcome to part 1 of my 2 part series on Selling your art on POD Websites: Zazze vs. Society6!

So I’ve been selling my designs on Zazzle and Society6 for a little over a year now.

I  don’t have the most experience out there, or largest amount of sales, but I wanted to share what I’ve learned so far using these two different Print On Demand demand websites to sell my artwork.  Hopefully this guide can help you decide which of these sites could be best for you!

Print On Demand basically means an item is printed or created after it has been purchased.  You upload your art or designs onto their website and digitally place them on to different products.  Then, the company prints and ships the product to the customer only after they buy it, and sends you small commission in return.

You do not have to pay for…

August 2015 has been another good month for me on Cafepress with 8 sales 🙂

One product is not available anymore.

September 2015 has been the first of a series of dramatic months for me on Zazzle. Sales have decreased dramatically. The overall number is almost cut in half! In September 2015, I only hat 16 successful (no returns) sales!

For the third time in my Society6 life, one of my new designs has made it to their frontpage over night and earlier today and YEAH, I am proud of it 🙂

Here is a screenshot as proof (yes, I am so proud I keep them all just to brag and remind me of my small success *g*):

A click on the screenshot or on the link beneath it will bring you to my “Rainy Day in NYC” travel mug with various other products to choose from, e.g. art print, canvas print, pillow, tote bag, allover print t-shirt or regular t-shirts, regular coffee cup, wall tapestry and so on. Why not check it out yourself? 🙂

July 2015 was a pretty good month on Cafepress for me, I have sold the following 7 products:

During September and October 2015 I have sold three items in total on Redbubble. As always, not much but definitely better than nothing. Redbubble earnings are really slow and I wonder why that is. Is my artwork not suitable for their marketplace? I have no idea…

During July 2015, I was able to sell quite a few designs on GrabYourDesign (GYD). Some of them sold more than once and unfortunately, I do not know what kind of product I have sold with my design. It could be any smartphone case, flip flops, mouse pads or whatever they have to offer.

So here is a rough list of my sales all with the standard iPhone 6 case 🙂

What I absolutely love about GrabYourDesign is the quick and easy design process. You do not have to do much and your artwork is added to their products in seconds (ok, 1 minute *g*). After having problems with Chinese copy cats on the infamous Amazon Marketplace, they had removed their products from Amazon a few weeks ago and are now back on Amazon with added security. They even forbid right clicks on their own website and make sure to add a watermark to their product pictures. Well done, GYD! I have also received my first cash out this fall and am very, very happy with them! I can totally recommed this print on demand website for beginners, it is the easiest I know (apart from Redbubble) but does deliver a good amount of sales (different to Redbubble which is more than frustrating!). If you are not yet selling your designs there, please join and have fun while earning 🙂
